I’m really not sure how she does it, but Shana Rae (who you will remember from my ‘Photographers I admire‘ post) can give flowers a personality like none I’ve never seen. When I view her floral images, I don’t get the feeling that I’m an all powerful human being looking down on a lowly little flower – it should be so lucky that I would even take a second to look at it! Rather, I feel like the flower is looking at me, giving me the time of day as equals. I feel like I am looking a flower in the eye. I actually get quite frustrated that I haven’t been able to capture florals in this way and spend a lot of time looking at Shana’s images trying to picture how she actually shot them and what they are saying. Here are a few of my favourites and a couple of my own.
