Reader Photo Friday – 23rd April {Kelsey}

This photo from Kelsey made my heart flutter a bit the instant I saw it! You all know what a sucker I am for a baby in a tutu! I just had to play with it.

I edited this exclusively with MCP Actions this time around and it took all of 3 minutes.

From the Quickie Collection, I ran:

  • Crackle
  • Urban Ocean

Then used ‘eye doctor

From the ‘All in the Details‘ set, I ran:

  • Quiet the Noise (the photo is really quite noisy & grainy, so I ran a noise reducing brush over the dark areas and her skin)
  • Hide & Seek dodge and burn (there’s a free version called “Touch of Light/Touch of Darkness“)

With a little extra help from a lower ISO (assuming the noise is from a high ISO) and maybe a bounced flash or a Lightscoop, this image would be print quality. It’s perfectly composed and well thought-out. I would love to see more of this little ballerina, Kelsey!

Thanks, Kelsey and everyone keep those shots comin! Send your photos to eh@elizabethhalford.com.

    You are right that picture is adorable. And your changes were subtle but made it so wonderful.

    Hi Elizabeth!

    I’m new to this…are all these actions compatible with PS Elements? (Do you do all of your corrections in Elements?) I am debating on purchasing Lightroom, in additon to Elements. What program do you use to organize your photos?

    Thanks!

    @Michaela: Hi! No, these particular actions aren’t compatible in PSE, although many are and sometimes, I use PSE. LR is excellent and I’m sure the best way to organise your photos, but I’m terribly ancient I’m afraid – I just keep them sorted in folders on my hard drive!
