B&A – How to Use Textures {video tut}

Here’s the B&A of a photo I took down on the beach next to my house:

I took this photo of the boys facing towards the warm setting sun but the ambience didn’t really translate very well in the SOOC image. So I applied a few actions and a few textures to bring back the warm glow which was originally there. And I can tell you that the finished product looks exactly like the scene I saw before me when taking the shot.

How I edited it video tutorial – Working with textures from ehphotograph on Vimeo.

    I’d love to see a tutorial on how to make textures. They’re lovely but I can’t really fork over money for something like that at this time.

    @Kate: no problem! Check out Isabelle lafrance who gives them away. And Deviant Art has thousands of free textures.

    Hello Elizabeth. friend from church told me about your web site. I also know Elbrie for whom you did photos. I had said to Elbrie when Jacob was born that if she wanted me to do some baby photos I could, for fun. She mentioned that someone had done some amazing pics of her already. I lost her email with her link and keep forgetting to ask her again but Grace told me about this site and I am floating on air! You are touching the hearts of many people probably many mummies like us who love to take thousands of pics. I do a couple of weddings a year as favours and love to do photography as a hobby.

    I dreamt last night that the bride to be of the Prince asked me to be her photographer, just last night! I went to her first public appearance and my old camera broke down on me and she said that she would hire a professional instead. What a crazy dream! I was working on a friend’s wedding from last weekend, last night and enjoyed playing with a free action that you poited the way to online. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

    I do everything by eye on PHOTOSHOP and try to get all these marvellous effects but soem actions have so many layers and I do not understand many technical layers and still cannot grasp how to BLEND layers so I end up doing a lot of painting on the photos.

    I am so encouraged to be shown your beautiful work. You have been generous to give advice and tips and that is like giving a bunch of flowers to mums like Grace and I. I am a mum at home with four children and so this is like a box of chocolates, looking at the colours and textyres on your site, from your work.
    TAHANK YOU SO MUCH.
