I {heart} my new Jo Totes camera bag

My beautiful new American Jo Totes camera bag is, as the kids say these days, ‘lush’. It couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect time just two days before a wedding for which I had no assistant to wheel my massive Lowepro roller behind me. This bag is excellent for me for a few reasons:

  • In addition to the cute traditional hand-bag style handles, there’s a strap so I can throw it over my shoulder
  • The zipper is super chunky, super strong. I’m sot worried that it’ll bust while packed to the brim with my most valuable possessions
  • It’s adorable (clearly!)
  • The inner compartment separators are adjustable depending on what you want to pack in it and allows you to section everything off.
  • When all my camera gear isn’t needed, I can just pack the little things I need and take this unassuming bag with me rather than my huge, often pretentious looking ‘professional’ rolling case.

There are a couple things I wish were different:

  • I wish that the velcro for the compartment separators was stronger and stopped things from slipping underneath them into another compartment (like sneaky little batteries)
  • I wish the outside decoration that stretches from side to side (the bit with the flower) was sown at the bottom so it could be a pocket.

{Conclusion?}

Of the many camera bags for women, I loved the look of this one the most. Everyone is surprised that it’s my camera bag and I can do my super hard job and still feel like a woman. The value for money is outstanding. It was so much more affordable than I thought it would be (in comparison to others). And if you’re in the UK like me, the exchange rate makes it even cheaper! But just know that you’ll have a customs charge for about £20 before Parcelforce will complete the delivery to you (because of the value of the item). Check out the Jo Totes website to find your perfect camera bag!

    I’ve been eyeballing one of these myself! I’d like a bag that I can throw a few diapers, some wipes and a camera into when I go out (I have 4 kids, 2 of whom are still in diapers). Would this bag fit the bill? And is there any chance this is a bag that could be tossed under a stroller while we’re out?

    I’m planning on asking for one for my birthday next month, but want to be good and sure :)

    I just got a Jo Totes bag this week, too! I got the red tote and I love it! It is a large bag, but I’ve always carried a large bag, so I don’t mind that. I agree, I would like the velcro to be a little stronger, and it would be great if there was an outside pocket. Otherwise, it’s perfect!

    @Nicole: I think one of the dangers with these bags is that you get the feeling it’s a handbag you can throw other stuff in. Be careful. Wipes contain moisture. Keys can scratch an uncovered lens. Suncream could spell disaster for your camera. I wouldn’t ever ‘toss’ this bag around but I get what you’re saying. It’s quite large so depending on how large your camera is, you have to choose your bag accordingly. When my camera is fitted with my favourite lens and a flash, it’s half the size of this bag :)
