B&A Monday – LR Edit. No presets, just elbow grease {video tut}

You know I love my presets & actions but sometimes, it’s just good to put your head down and apply some good old fashioned elbow grease. Photo editing programs are absolutely packed with everything you need to do whatever you want with your photos without any add ons. So here is a shot I edited in Lightroom using the tools available within the program.

And here’s the video tut where you can watch me edit the photo from scratch and figure it out as I go. I hadn’t played with the photo at all before hitting record:

Hey y’all! Since Peter has joined us now on Tuesdays (Techie Tuesday), I’m going to make ‘Before & After Monday’ to also include the ‘How I did’ it all in one post. When I get around to actually doing them, that is! These video tuts are by far the most time consuming part of my blogging but I love you so I do it anyway!

Here’s the B&A of a photo I took down on the beach next to my house:

I took this photo of the boys facing towards the warm setting sun but the ambience didn’t really translate very well in the SOOC image. So I applied a few actions and a few textures to bring back the warm glow which was originally there. And I can tell you that the finished product looks exactly like the scene I saw before me when taking the shot.

This week, I was so very inspired by this shot by Kimberly Chorney. I never considered trying one of my own. Later that day, we went for a walk and I spied a ridge of grass on top of a hill and – instantly reminded of the beautiful shot I’d seen earlier in the day – asked my son to climb up there and walk along it.
