Photography has changed my life in many ways. When my son was born in June of 2008, I had several mediocre shoots with local photographers, and was trying to find someone that really captured his true essence and what I saw him as every day. I then purchased a Canon Rebel and for the next year, I just had fun with it.
About a year later, a friend of mine asked me to take some newborn pictures of her daughter just for practice. I think we were equally surprised at how good they turned out and because of this, I was inspired to keep learning. Over the past year and a half, I’ve learned a ton and have a long way to go, but photography, to me, was something I was passionate about.
During this time, my husband and I suffered from secondary, unexplained infertility accompanied by several losses. This was an extremely hard time for me. I learned how to re-focus and direct my energy in other ways. It gave me an outlet to release my feelings and feel like I was really able to do something I cared about.
Although it’s currently a 2nd job for me, I hope that someday it will be more primary for me! We are finally expecting our 2nd child and I hope that I can continue learning and growing – I know that there is so much more!!!
