How Photography Changed my Life {by Tamara Fosher}

Photography has changed my life in many ways. When my son was born in June of 2008, I had several mediocre shoots with local photographers, and was trying to find someone that really captured his true essence and what I saw him as every day. I then purchased a Canon Rebel and for the next year, I just had fun with it.

About a year later, a friend of mine asked me to take some newborn pictures of her daughter just for practice. I think we were equally surprised at how good they turned out and because of this, I was inspired to keep learning. Over the past year and a half, I’ve learned a ton and have a long way to go, but photography, to me, was something I was passionate about.

During this time, my husband and I suffered from secondary, unexplained infertility accompanied by several losses. This was an extremely hard time for me. I learned how to re-focus and direct my energy in other ways. It gave me an outlet to release my feelings and feel like I was really able to do something I cared about.

Although it’s currently a 2nd job for me, I hope that someday it will be more primary for me! We are finally expecting our 2nd child and I hope that I can continue learning and growing – I know that there is so much more!!!

I know photography is changing countless lives in this world. Please email your story to me so we can share the power of photography. Email your stories and photos to: eh@elizabethhalford.com

    Tamara – I can totally relate to your story. Photography found me after the loss of our first child when I was 20 weeks pregnant. It was the outlet to focus my grief and begin healing. Much luck to you as you get ready to welcome your 2nd child and grow your photography dreams! Photography is a 2nd job for me too and I am hoping to go full time in the future as well.
