eWorkshop Review: “From Portfolio to Profit Engine: How to Build an Absolutely Irresistable Photography Website”

Knock Knock

Who’s there?

Your website.

Who?

EXACTLY!

Do you ever play that “what if you won the lottery” game? I hate it. Because it frustrates me that I will likely never win the lottery. But among all the things I’d like to do with millions and millions of pounds/dollars/whatever, I would like to:

  • Buy the book “How to Make Friends and Influence People” for every single person I know
  • Buy a Clarisonic face cleaning brush for every girl in the world struggling with acne
  • Buy every one of my readers Psychology For Photographers’ new eWorkshop. And make sure they actually follow it through.

Before I get into this, let me say that I hear from a LOT of actions makers, preset makers, eBook writers, etc etc. They all want me to read/try their stuff and sell it to you. And mostly, I just say “thanks but no thanks”. So although it may seem that I recommend that you buy everything under the sun, I’m really not. You have no idea how much stuff I filter out. I only recommend products that I have organically fallen upon in my own education process and believe are valuable.

A year or so ago, I followed through on a Twitter link to a blog post from a new blog for photographers called Psychology for Photographers. I was like “No flipping way! My two favourite fields combined?” Total attack of excitement on my end. Since then, many of you have also been reading Jenika’s blog and I hope you’ve found it as valuable as I have. Jenika has a Master’s in psychology from Yale and was working on her PhD when she fell in love with photography. You can see an interview I did with her on the topic of friends and money here on the Rock the Shot Forum. She’s a huge wealth of information and I highly encourage that you check her out.

So today, Jenkia has released her much anticipated eWorkshop called From Portfolio to Profit Engine: How to Build an Absolutely Irresistable Photography Website. And I’m here to tell you a little bit about it.

This is not an eBook. This is an eWorkshop and that is because it’s not a book for you to passively read. It’s full of super indepth worksheets {“dreamsheets”} you need to complete in order to actually interract with the materials in the program as you read through.

The main file is a PDF which you can view on your computer or mobile device and it’s a whopping 87 pages long. This is no lightweight piece of material. The zip file you download also comes with mp3 interviews with photographer Sue Bryce and Spencer Lum. As I type this, I’m listening to the Sue Bruce interview and I’m only 4 minutes in and have had at least 3 really solid ah-ha! moments. No wait she just said something else absolutely brilliant…so make that 4!

There’s no point in going on and on about this because all the information you need to know about the workshop is here. But I will say this…

This workshop has less to do with your actual website than you might think. This has everything to do with narrowing down your target client and then building a website that will speak directly to them. The most uncomfortable part of the whole thing is that Jenika guides you through narrowing down your target client in the most precise way I’ve ever seen in a workshop, class or eBook. You’re not going to narrow it down to a range. You’re going to find out who your ideal client is and Jenika even acknowledges that you might feel uncomfortable with the mind shift she’s asking you to have. But when you are finished, you will thank her for it.

From Portfolio to Profit Engine: How to Build an Absolutely Irresistable Photography Website is $99 as an introductory special. A little birdie has told me that it will never be this cheap again.
